About Us

Founded in 2020 by Claire Hambrick in her freshman year, MIDAS Magazine is UNC Charlotte's premier arts and culture magazine. Drawing inspiration from the ancient mythos of King MIDAS and his golden touch, MIDAS Magazine seeks to highlight the four pillars of artistry, identity, community and lifestyle. Our mission is to preserve the talents of the UNCC student-body population as well as the burgeoning arts and culture scene found in the greater Charlotte area.

Since 2020, we have released eight issues (one for each semester) and have made great gains with diverse and intriguing topics such as an exploration of toxic masculinity (Volume 3 | Issue 1); exploring the world of drag queens in the Queen City (Volume 2 | Issue 2); or confronting truths about ones identity through numerous personal narratives that cover everything from alienation of your own culture to the fashion influences of your childhood.

MIDAS Magazine is a nationally-award winning student production that is entirely student-led and created, with the support of Niner Media's official staff and funding from the Student Activity Fees Commission.
